What is more boring than watching paint dry?

Why, watching cheese ripe of course!

Live Cheddar Cheese

I am posting this from the Starbucks in KLCC. They have free internet access. I think I should post something to my blog everytime I travel overseas.

Anyway, the past 3 days have been a total waste of time. Things that were suppose to be ready before I arrive was not ready. In fact the whole site was not ready. There is nothing much I can do if the site is not ready. After trying unsuccessfully to get an exact date that it will be ready, my Project Manager gave up and asked me to fly back instead.

Have to remember it is a different country. it is a different culture, and therefore people work differently.

Have to remember.

I was reading LMD’s rant on her boss.

And then I looked back at my own bosses throughout my career so far.

My first boss for my first job after graduation was a nice lady. Besides the fact that she does not know really much, she at least treated my nicely. When she got pregnant for the first time in her late thirties (she was pretty much a career woman), she was like on medical leave 3 days per week, which left me to handle everything. But still I can say she is pretty nice boss.

My next boss was a typical pointy hair boss. He does not care, you can go to him to ask for help, and he can bullshit for a full hour and yet still do not offer any solution. He has his own pets, and those pets get fat increment, bonuses while those who are not his pets (like me), get nothing. In the end, he was eventually forced to resign by the company.

My previous boss was a downright asshole. He started off pretty ok, and did try to take care of his employees initially. Then he became bitter, partly because he did not get a pay rise from his promotion to the management level (hey, those years were very bad), partly because his own boss always ticked him off for being so disorganised. And that is when everything start to go downhill. He forced us to work on weekends on short notice, like usually on Fridays and assume that we have nothing planned on weekends. He scolded us when we did not pick up his calls even though it was closed to midnight and we were not even on call. He refused to pick up his phone when we try to call him for help during after hours support. He even forced one of my colleague to enter the building to continue work when they felt tremors on a Sunday. Everyone of us hated him and were actively seeking new jobs, but due to the market conditions then most of us cannot leave. When he had a heart attack recently, one word came to my mind, ‘retribution’.

My current boss seems not too bad so far. He is demanding, but if you perform, he is willing to stick his neck out to reward you. He thinks ahead and plans well. Time will tell if he can continue to be like this.

Come to think of it, having a good boss is a lot like winning the lottery. The chances are really, really slim.

Flying Again

Just received news that I am flying again. To KL again this weekend.

I am keeping my fingers crossed this time. I want to come back as soon as possible. No problems please, and even if there are, no major ones.

Picture Of The Day

My feelings on the ministers pay hike is perfectly described by

STFU

And why should the MPs be surprised of the strong reaction from Singaporeans? You think we are still living in the 1960s and believe every single piece of propaganda thrown at us? This generation of Singaporeans are more educated, more intelligent, and much more knowledgeable than before.

So just STFU, enjoy your pay rise. You will be pretty damn sure that most Singaporeans will not forget about this in the next elections.

We Deliver.

This is really funny.

Changing Career

I am thinking of changing career.

I am going into politics. I reckon I will never be a millionaire with my current field. However if I am to go into politics, I will get to be a millionaire!

Amy Suriyawong

Is she hot or what?

Incidentally, she turned up at some awards ceremony in Thailand wearing a nice sexy black dress. She was then publicly vilified and asked by her university to perform community service.

Is it not funny that for a country whose tourism industry is based mainly on the sex industry to actually react so strongly against some young actress wearing a sexy black dress?

Banned

How about this for a movie billboard?

Captivity

Incidentally, it was subsequently banned after a huge outcry.
