Give it time. Everything happens eventually. All the good stuff. And when you think it never happens, it happens. Just got to be ready for it.

This is an email that I sent to SMRT today :

Dear Sir/Madam,

I took a westbound train around 6pm on 30th May 2008 Friday at the
Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. As the train was very crowded, it took some
time to allow the passengers to disembark before I was able to board
the train.

As I was about to board the train, the signal sounded that the train
door was about to close, and before I knew it, the train door started
to close, slamming painfully against my forearm. As I struggle to push
the passengers in front of me so that I can get into the train, the
train door continued to close, almost trapping the haversack that I
was carrying on my back. In the end, I was able to board the train
while the train door slammed shut behind me.

I have a few questions regarding the safety of passengers boarding the train :

1) Weren’t the train doors fitted with a safety mechanism where it
will open again if it detects one of the door hitting against a
passenger? As my bruised and painful forearm can testify, the train
door slammed really hard against my forearm. What if it happened to
some old and frail man or a small and young kid? That would have
caused seriously injury. I also cannot imagine if my haversack was
trapped by the train door behind me. Would I be dragged if the train
moved?

2) Even if the safety mechanism was not fitted, or it was not
functioning properly, shouldn’t the train’s driver at least hold off
closing the train door until he is sure that everyone has boarded?

I am sure the platform’s security cameras at the Tanjong Pagar MRT
Station would have captured the whole incident. With the trains
getting crowded every day, I am sure the safety of the passengers are
of the utmost concern to your company. Please investigate and revert
so that my confidence in the safety of the MRT trains can be restored.

My first gallery of photos from Gold Coast is up. Takes a lot of time to select, upload and configure this. Still have to update the description of these photos and then move on to the next gallery of photos.

Click on the link ‘Travel Photos’ to the right to view them or here.

But I had to…

How can anyone bear to leave this place?

Guilt I can do. If [I have] any expertise at all, it’s in the area of guilt. I have a black belt in guilt. If you ever want a guilt-off, the next time we meet let’s see how we match up. I’m pretty confident in that area.

Why is it that everytime I can come back from work early and it is always World of Warcraft maintenance time? Then again, it seems like people in the guild are losing interest in raiding, so maybe I am not losing out that much.

At least it is showing Bones II on TV on Tuesday night.

Food

The first dish of my lunch in Tung Lok’s Signatures today. The food was excellent, and I especially love the Shark’s Fin Boiled with Chicken (yes, I love Shark’s Fin). It was pricey, but when it is charged to the project, you do not really care much about the price.

My attempt to take a night shot using my new camera :

I was perpetually in a daze during the past week. Juggling two projects at the same time, I find myself working till the sun rises, then sleep while the sun was in the sky, then back to work again, and repeat.

Day becomes night, night becomes day. How long more can I last?

I find this just very interesting.

In December last year, a song was available for download for free from a previously unknown band Foxboro Hottubs from their MySpace site.

After listening to it, people started to speculate that it is actually the mega band Green Day in disguise due to the voice of the lead singer. Read about it here.

And then finally, they admitted it (link). I mean to think a very successful band actually decide to create a new band, play the music they like, and then release it (via download) using a non traditional source of distribution is like so… whoa.

I am so going to buy their music from their website.
